Now if they only realized you're traveling longer than 2-3 hours on an overnight train...
Actually Airlines on long haul 6+ hour routes would provide a free meal, even for economy pax. Even on transcon routes like JFK-LAX/SFO Delta now provides meals.
 
That is not entirely true. AA between BOS and LAX has economy passengers purchasing food on the 6 and one half hour flight.
 
I said that Delta is providing it on Transcon routes, not AA. I agree that AA has not followed suit on their transcon product.
Some airlines I think are on their “Premium Service” trans cons, but not on all flights.

Example: UA may offer it on their PS flights from LAX to EWR, but not “Normal” LAX to EWR or LAX to IAD - even if they are all nonstops!
