When I made my reservation, the agent told me to check back to see if the room price lowers and they could make an adjustment.

Today a bedroom is showing what I think is around a $200 price drop from what I paid. I have called three times, two of the times, there were no bedrooms available but still showing online. The last call the agent said the price wasn't for the full segment of my trip which is DEN to RNO. It would be part way in a bedroom and then part way in coach. I told her that didn't sound right and she said unfortunately that is the way the system works.

What am I missing here?

To make it more interesting, just called Amtrak again, the agent said when it shows 1 bedroom it really means there are no bedrooms available. So I went through the steps of booking a new reservation with that bedroom and of course it was allowing me to book which I told the agent, trying to get her to realize that with 1 showing probably means there is one available.

I give up!

Is the bedroom still in your cart when you call? That may be removing it from the visible inventory.

If you are an AGR member, I suggest trying the AGR phone number.

So I called rewards and was basically told the same thing. I’m going to forget about it. It’s not that big of a deal, thought I might be misunderstanding something.
Thanks everyone.

I talked to a Customer Service Rep - not a booking agent ... the booking agent said he couldn't help me and was the one who transferred me to the CSR. The CSR fixed the issue with no problem or static.

As far as I can tell, the AGR phone number just gives you priority in the que waiting for an agent...a regular agent not someone special. Same when I use the Select/Select Plus number.
n other words, it just moves you to the head of the line!
