Looks like a P42 malfunctioned on CN territory. The incoming Siemens locomotives will do wonders for Amtrak OTP.

You’re right that dispatching does more for OTP than equipment health does, but I maintain that a well run loco does more for the integrity of a timetable than a tired loco.
Imho Amtrak having more reliable engines is a win for Amtrak and the freight railroads. Every time an Amtrak train breaks down on a freight railroad it must cause headaches for many starting with the dispatcher and the people who have to locate a working freight engine and then get it to the stalled Amtrak train.
