2 Pedestrians Hit by amtrak train in Ambridge Pa

Trying to beat a train at a crossing, and lost. Where have we heard that before?

The pedestrians, a man and a woman, were on the tracks near Merchant Street around 12:30 a.m. when they were hit by the train.

I'm sorry for the victims who were struck; and sorry for the crew, who will have to live with this trauma, and for the 215 passengers routed out of sleep on their way to Cleveland, Toledo, or Chicago.

There's not, really. No roads or anything cross the tracks because they're only like 20 feet from the river in the first place.

I'm not sorry for the people who couldn't wait 45 seconds for it to pass. They had a choice and they made a deadly one, not the safe one. I'm sorry for the crew.

about 2,300 times a year since cars have been around.

Most likely they thought it was a slow moving freight train. People see more freight trains than they see Amtrak trains.

People also mistakenly think that trains will behave like cars when they play range chicken. They think like on the road if they stick their nose in the other guy will veer or slow down or stop or go into the ditch or something. Brain shortage is an epidemic.
