I was in Chicago on Tuesday, and noticed 5 heritage diners in the yard. Chicago has only one train with heritage diners, the Lake Shore Limited, so I was amazed to see 5 diners.

My guess is they are going to Beech Grove for storage?

The car numbers were 8551, 8552, 8504, 8558 and 8502.

Likely to beech grove as they will not see another revenue mile.

what are Amtrak's replacement diners going to be? The viewliner diners? I really like the 8400 diner
Yes, Henry, the viewliner diners currently on order are supposed to replace the heritage diners. 8400 is currently being used as a test bed for them.
