I was booked on the Acela from NYP to BOS tomorrow. Train to BOS was cancelled. Was offered chance to rebook on regional or get full refund. Client meeting was moved to virtual and refund was taken!
The only way I know has a horrible ratio...
Transfer UR points to Marriot, then transfer at 1:3 ratio to SPG, then SPG to Amtrak. So, 150k UR is 50k Amtrak. Horrible ratio, especially since 150k UR can be used as 1500 in Cashback.
They now have priority boarding in NYP.
My favorite perk is United Club access - of all the things about earning AGR status, this is what primarily drives my excitement about it. Being able to use a united club, even when not flying United, is a massive perk (as I fly over 100 flights a year...
I've been S+ for several years, but due to the double TQP promotion, I'm less than 600 TQPs away from Select Executive. Will be getting it by the end of the month.. i'm excited as well! First time!
Currently earned over 1700 TQPs on this promotion. I normally shoot for S+ (which i already have for this year), but this promo might give me enough to squeak by for Select Executive
I love the paid card. I consider the upgrade coupon each year worth the fee alone. But considering I book my own Acela tickets and get reimbursed by my company (unlike the rest of my travel which is paid on a corporate card), I can rack up a ton of points, which primarily go to upgrade coupons...
Believe I just took my final Amtrak trip of the year. Will end up at 17,000 TQPs and see no need to try to get to Select Executive. Now, I only wish Amtrak had rollover TQPs similar to Delta!
I live in the upper east side of NYC. Shows that when living in the NEC area that I'll choose trains 100% of the time when traveling to Boston or DC than flying. I love flying (travel weekly for work), but the train experience from NYC to DC/Boston is a superior experience (in my opinion)
The_traveler is correct. If you earned this by doing 3 NER trips, you earned a free NER round trip from 7/2 to 8/31. If earned on the Acela, then you get a free Acela round trip
For me, yes. I travel weekly for work and often have client meetings in DC and Boston. The TQP bonus will make it easier because my company lets us buy Acela (but not first class). Already at 2 round trips and have another one coming up on Tuesday. Was bummed about losing the min 500 TQPs for...
