The holding time is long and I bet the Amtrak reps are swamped so I will ask here. Will I receive a full refund? Is there anything I need to do? I know if I cancel there will be penalty but now Amtrak canceled so I am hoping for better options.

Mock booking is the lingo used in some travel sites and it means you start the booking process without finishing. You just stop short at paying at the final screen. People do it to check the final real prices instead of the advertised prices. If you can't find it I can send you a direct link.

BTW if you do a mock booking you will be led to an application page where you will be offered an extra $100 statement credit on top of 40000 points. :) Even better! :D

Thanks Acela! :) My understanding is the upgrade coupon can only be used for one person, so only one of us can have the upgrade. So it will not be useful for this trip since we want to sit together. :( ... unless I can score another upgrade from that thread! Ha! :D

Hubby just applied and got approved for the for fee Amtrak Mastercard with the 40,000 points sign up bonus and it supposedly has a few coupons and now I have a few questions. :p We already booked a trip from FL to Boston for the 2 of us and the travel date is coming up in early September, and...
