    Texas Eagle with two units

I thought the group had an anacronym like TEMPO or similar.

    Fire impacts Coast Starlight (6/29/21)

I wonder if any trains could detour up to Eugene using the Southern Pacific's [ now CORP] Siskyou Line. In its heyday, that was the only route available. It would definitely cause a sizeable delay to Amtrak trains though. Klamath Falls and Chemult would be missed stops. Probably a bus...

    Texas Eagle with two units

There used to be an advocacy group for this train. Has it ceased to exist. I believe it was they who got Amtrak to make some improvements to the train.

    Texas Eagle with two units

Interesting info. Where is that from? It shows the train running to Dallas when actually it runs to Ft. Worth. That causes me to question the accuracy of other info. Another possible explanation might be that if the train is running with two engines, it may do in San Antonio what the Lake...

    Texas Eagle with two units

I hear what you're saying, but was the second unit powered and pulling, or was it dead in tow? My belief is that it was probably the latter.

    New rules for lounge access?

The airlines --well American, anyway--went that route a couple of years ago. My credit card gives me Admiral's Club access, and until a few ago, I did not have to be flying American to get into their lounges.

Upper Harlem Line to GCT 6/27/21

Poughkeepsie seems to fit the bill. Why not there? You don't say where you're starting from.

Why aren't overnight trains able to compete with flying?

The only other large cities enough to support an overnight sleeper in Texas would probably be San Antonio and Houston. The Texas Eagle does its run between Ft. Worth and San Antonio in six hours, 58 minutes. Add another 45 minutes [or thereabouts] to Dallas and an intermediate stop. That...

Meanwhile, AA is yanking their IFE on just about all their narrow bodies. The customer experience is certainly not high on their priority list.

When the US Air folks took over, it was downhill from there.

Why aren't overnight trains able to compete with flying?

End-to-end distances in Europe are ALOT shorter than they are here for major cities. So, France is a little smaller than Texas, to put things into perspective. Paris-Ventimiglia overnight would be like Brownsville on the Mexican border up to Ft, Worth. Also, our populated cities are either...
