    Keystone Corridor discussion

Now that it's April 15 and we're a week into this "project," I wonder what they're doing with the trains now. My trip is coming up in a couple of weeks....

    Keystone Corridor discussion

Thanks for the advice. Here’s what we’re doing: we’re taking the Pennsylvanian (43) for the trip back to Elizabethtown since 645 does indeed stop at Lancaster and we’d have to take a bus for the remainder of the trip and lug the luggage off the train and on/off the bus. I called the dedicated...

    Keystone Corridor discussion

I am going on the Keystone from Elizabethtown to Philadelphia on Train 600 in May (on a Friday). My parents are going on the following day (Saturday) on 660 from/to the same stations. I understand they are running busses between Lancaster and Harrisburg between April and November due to a track...

    Atlantic Coast (Silver/Palmetto/Carolinian) Service discussion Q4 2023 - 2024

I was almost left behind at DC today. I wanted to watch them “swap” out the locomotives. I never heard the All-Aboard call—train wasn’t scheduled to leave until 304 PM—it was 2:55 PM. I turned to make sure and everyone was back aboard and the doors closed!! Fortunately a conductor saw me and was...

    Atlantic Coast (Silver/Palmetto/Carolinian) Service discussion Q4 2023 - 2024

Today’s Silver Star (91) has 3 coaches and 2 sleepers. I’ve been riding this train at least twice a year and it always seems to have only had 2 or 3 coaches. The only time it had 5 was when the Star and Meteor were combined during Covid. In 2019, the Star had 4 coaches. Is this due to an...

    Atlantic Coast (Silver/Palmetto/Carolinian) Service discussion Q4 2023 - 2024

I had this same issue happen to my parents and I when we rode the Star in May of 2023 as well. Hope this isn’t an issue today because I’m riding the Star today!

    Lancaster, PA Station Construction

You’re right. I sat on the right side of #660 this morning and the platform was gone. Everyone boarded at the last three cars. I was in the second car from the front.

    Lancaster, PA Station Construction

From my experience yesterday, only the middle cars can disembark at Lancaster coming from Philadelphia at this time. Not sure if this will be the case in April. Going TO Philadelphia, I didn’t notice any issues. But, I’ll be riding to Philadelphia again March 2 (tomorrow) so I can double check.

    Lancaster, PA Station Construction

I was riding the Keystone to Philadelphia this morning. I noticed they’re tearing up the trackway around one of the platforms of the Lancaster station. Any idea what’s going on? Are they preparing for more service on the Keystone line?

    Upgrade/Companion/Lounge Coupons: seeking, available, questions

So you’re saying I could purchase a lounge pass with my points and they should be able to use it if I print it out for them? The Lounge Attendant won’t question?

    Upgrade/Companion/Lounge Coupons: seeking, available, questions

I have a question about lounge passes. I am a AGR member, but I would like to know if you can purchase a lounge pass for someone else with your points. My parents and best friend are going to NYP in February. I would kind of like them to be comfortable and not be cramped in the tight waiting...

    Traveling with an infant?

Thank you for the advice. One thing I learned is it’s difficult to change a baby on an Amfleet 1 Coach—they do not provide a changing table. I suggested to my parents that they change my niece’s diaper in the accessible bathroom since the commode area is wider, but even then it was a challenge...

    Traveling with an infant?

My niece is dressed for the trip and is very excited!! We figured everything out onboard.

    Traveling with an infant?

I’m bringing my newborn niece with me for her first Amtrak ride soon. It will be a Keystone ride to NYP from Elizabethtown roundtrip. She’s already on the reservation as a free-riding infant. She has her Amtrak onesie. Any suggestions from anyone?

    Atlantic Coast Service discussion

I saw this on Instagram. The Silver Star apparently had one of the 1991 Dash 8 “Pepsi Can” Engines pulling it. Only one locomotive to pull an 8-car consist. I didn’t know Amtrak still used these for road hauling. Most of them have been relegated to yard and switching duties. Apparently, the post...
