I just hope the Sunset gets its transition sleeper back. They’ve priced me out of taking the train NOL-LAX with the $1000+ prices ever since they went to only one sleeper.

Thankfully I don’t take any vacation time in the traditional summer months (June - August) so I can still find decent deals in a sleeper. In the second week of May I’m doing EMY-CHI for an even $600. I feel that’s an adequate price for the service and experience. Anything more is really pushing...

Is there any news on when the menus will change again? IMO, it’s time for a refresh for both flex and traditional.

What do you all think a proposed/tentative schedule would look like from FTW to MEI, assuming the current Crescent schedule is unchanged? Here’s what I came up with. I just listed a few of the stops. The times would not be great for the DFW area if 19/20 don’t run with a new schedule, but...

Crescent is running with three coaches. Two are in use out of/into NOL, and the third is saved for ATL passengers. The train used to have four, pre-pandemic. Sleeper capacity is actually up due to the rooms sold in the bag dorm.

Is the 3001 car the second sleeper in the consist? I have a room in that car booked for next month and if so I’ll be enjoying the rail fan window.

If you’re too cold, you can always add layers. If you’re too hot, you’re out of luck. There’s nothing worse than an overly hot roomette. On a few occasions I’ve had to move rooms because it was so hot I couldn’t sleep due to sweating.

Crescent should be running the entire way daily in December. Usually mid January to mid February it only runs ATL-NOL on Fr/Sa/Su, with the other four days a bus substitution, due to NS track work.

My trick is to hang up two dark shirts on top of the curtain next to each other, so just about all of the remaining light is blocked out. It definitely makes sleep a bit easier for me.

When did the Miami lounge close?

You can still take it and go sit in the cafe car. They can’t stop you from sitting in there and eating it. Some crews just don’t serve it in there.

Does anyone know if the Sunset will ever get its second coach or trans dorm back? I’ve been hesitant to take it in coach ever since they took off the second car (thus virtually guaranteeing you’ll get a seat mate) and the sleeper prices are absurd, since the trans dorm was removed.

Last month, they brought the meals to my room as usual, and I took it to the cafe for one of the meals just for a change in scenery. No one told me anything. But I don’t mind eating in my room since I deal with the public face to face in close proximity five days a week, so I enjoy the peace...

I think the scenery between NOL and ATL is vastly underrated, and I still ride it even with flex meals. I don’t mind eating in my room (especially when I can snag a V2 Roomette, those are so very nice, I have another trip in one of those coming up) and I can always grab a cold one and hang in...

The old schedule was also beneficial in the sense that you’re not arriving into NYP at rush hour. I liked getting there around 2. Honestly I’d like to see 20 run two hours earlier, and 19 run one hour earlier.
