Meals To Ticketed Passengers In Sleeper?

Or not. I had this exact scenario happen to me a couple of years ago and posted about it in the forum. We (two moms and two boys) were in coach on the CZ and upgraded on board to the only available sleeper, a bedroom, which does, I believe, allow this configuration (two adults and two...

    Roomette #2

I had roomette two for the majority of my last cross-country trip. I do not like that room at all because you do have people hanging out at the coffee pot early in the morning, you hear every call bell going off, and the TA-s keep a lot of things stored in the upper bunk of room 1 and they are...

First Class on Trenitalia roundtrip from Florence to Venice

While in Italy recently, we took the train between Florence and Venice to spend the day in Venice. Our hotel in Florence was just a couple of blocks from the train station so we walked to the station one morning for the 8:30 a.m. train to Venice. The station in Florence isn't much to look at...

    Seattle, WA

OK, finally have a little time to update the thread. We hit the space needle first thing in the morning, then took the monorail downtown and spent the rest of the rainy day at the Public Market, which we absolutely loved. Hotel 5 was a great hotel, very comfortable, great location and very...

    Spring break trip for 2013

For my daughter's spring break, she wanted to go out west again sowe took a regional from Was to Nyp, the Lakeshoe Ltd to Chicago, the California Zephyr to Sacramento, the coast Starlight to Seattle, the Empire Builder to Essex, then Empire Builder to Chicago and the Cap Ltd back to DC. Instead...

    Blizzard on the Builder

I was on the 8 (15) and it was quite cold when I stepped off for fresh air in Minot. Overnight, the temps across ND and MN dipped to 15 below and caused the water tank on the dining car to freeze and they made the announcements that morning to bring your coffee with you from the sleeper because...

    Recent 8400 sightings.

On 49 now and stepped off at Albany and saw that we have 8400. Going to dinner in a bit.

    Trains running fine despite snow/wind?

I live in the vicinity of the Buckingham Branch and we did have tree damage from both the heavy snow and high wind. Many folks still without power, too. So while DE and DC were spared, we got close to 20 inches. Glad the trains are running well, though, since I begin a transcontinental loop...

Question about Coach for California Zephyr (Chicago to Emeryville)

My must have list when traveling coach includes a blanket and pillow. It can get cold at night. The other two essentials for me are ear plugs and eye mask. I hope you have a great trip. I will be on the zephyr headed west in one week!
