    As a National Park Service Trails and Rails volunteer, I can tell you that, for many years, there was a T&R route ATL-NOL and return the next day 3 or 4 days a week. and it was very popular.     In the past, their estimate has been pretty accurate. Remember, it affects freight traffic also, so they want to get it done.

    Meridian might be a good place, but you'd have to check with locals about your car. Maybe Picayune, depending on timing. Frankly, given the driving time involved, I don't see any advantage to catching the train in MS vs NOL. Yes and yes.

    IMO the transport company should be liable since the driver did not stop short of the crossing while waiting for the traffic light.

    The Conductor is the Captain of the ship. He/she can have you removed from the train. I have seen it done.

    The proposed location would require a 30 minute backup move in or out for the Crescent. I don't think they're really interested in that.

    The Crescent never had a separate cafe car and lounge car. It has always been just one car.

    "Best outcome would be establishing a joint powers authority" That will never happen in Georgia. They tried something like that with MARTA and only 2 counties originally agreed, finally got one more, but one large county will never agree.
