All of this sounds great in theory. But if the Sightseer car goes on to SEA at SPK, then that means no more Sightseer car west or eastbound going through the Columbia River Gorge. I wonder how well that would go over with the Portland section passengers??
You will be pleasantly surprised to find that AMTRAK coach is NOTHING like coach on Greyhound! The seats are roomier and you have ALOT of leg room! You are also free to get up and roam the train whenever you like! The "Sightseer Car" serves two purposes. The top level has very LARGE picture...
I think some people have trouble figuring out the difference between the "car attendant call button" and the "toilet flush button". True story, on one of my Empire Builder trips, while sitting in the lower level seating, I kept hearing the attendant call "chime" going off. Eventually the car...
Having taken both of those trains last month, I can say that the only vegetarian option you will have dinner wise is the Vegetarian Pasta. It's not bad, though it does get a bid old after a couple of days. On the Empire Builder they did offer a Veggie Burger on the lunch menu(garden burger...
Well it's obvious from my trip last month that they are not "cycling" all of the meals. The vegetarian pasta was on cycle #1 on trains 8 and 7. Also the wild grilled "Mahi Mahi" was the seafood selection on trains 7 and 8. The "Market Place Special" as listed on the above menu was correct...
It would be nice if they would remove the lids altogether on the trash cans. Personally I'm not all that fond of trying to get my paper towel into the trash can without touching the lid after I have washed my hands...
As long as your Debit Card has the Visa or Master Card logo on it, it can be ran as a Credit Card. The dinner menu on the EB typically consists of the baked "half chicken" with vegetables( around $15 If memory serves correctly), Flat Iron Steak ($22), Chef's Special, or the Vegetable Ravioli...
We were on the CL twice last month. On the eastbound trip, CHI to PGH we were in sleeper and took a 7 p.m. dinner reservation. Dinner on the CL was my first experience with the CCC. It seemed that they were using the "Dining Room" portion of the car for First Class passengers and the...
We were on the eastbound Empire Builder PDX-CHI going through the effected area on April 14th. Amazingly enough, when we woke up that morning (the 14th), we were only 1 hour and 40 minutes down. The LSA in the dining car informed us that we had run into water during the night. We were only 1...
I received a similar "form letter" last year after leaving positive and negative feedback on a trip on the Cardinal. However, in the "form letter" I received, they at least apologized for the negative incident....
Portland Oregon has what is known as "Fareless Square". Essentially all MAX trains, Buses, and the Portland Street Car are FREE in most of the downtown area. Fortunately, the Amtrak Station is included in this very large "Square".
