I think so. We prefer it on backpacking trips. It's often found in the ethnic (e.g. Mexican, Indian) section in grocery stores.

I believe that there's a bus direct from MSY to Union Passenger Terminal (NOL). I'm given to believe that the easiest connection between air transport and Amtrak is at Newark (EWR). Baltimore (BWI) also gets high marks.

Passenger rail service in UP is an interesting "pipe dream" but I'd be forced to ask, "What's in the pipe?"
