I've pretty much had it with FNBO. I refuse to give them any authorization for autopay or anything on their own site. When I send them messages on their secure message page they consistently reply as if they didn't even read the question much less answer it. I don't need the points. I used to...
I recently stayed 3 nights in Chicago between Cardinal trips at The Sonder on Wabash btw Madison & Monroe. $443. It was the nicest Airbnb of my long experience. Full kitchen, King bed, large living room, 15' ceilings. It was all very well done and pleasant. Quiet on 5th floor back of building...
I experienced Flex Dining on 51 and 50 last week. I had salmon twice, enchiladas and something else I don't remember. Not terrible but not good. The omelette was not good. I didn't care for the butter cake or the brownie. Service was typical Amtrak - inconsistent, confused and at their...
I was hanging around Union station TGD as I had to vacate lodging by 11am and Cardinal departed 5:55pm, on time. The lounge was deserted like everything else. 5 sleeper pax boarded. I walked down Jackson Blvd to Greek Town for lunch at a Japanese place.
I stopped counting at 150 people this morning on the CVS platform waiting for ner156. The most I've ever seen. This is after first 151 then 20 came through and picked up dozens of pax each. 156 was 27 minutes late for no apparent reason except the meet with 151. No freight traffic at all, I...
Oh, I see, this designed statistic includes njt, llrr and metronorth and freight ffs. OK! I should have known better. How to Lie With Statistics 101. I wonder how they define a train. 🙄 Our daily bread these days.
I did the Bridgeport loop once and enjoyed it. A trip up to Hudson is also worthwhile, or just to Poughkeepsie. I spent time in both reconnoitering for a retirement place with good rail service. Both towns are interesting but I ultimately decided on CVS and have no regrets.
Very enjoyable trip report and the video was especially nice - a lot of work and care went into it. Glad you got the voucher of course. Taking The Cardinal in the other direction is much better chance of daylight through New River Gorge and Shenandoah Valley even if late several hours esp in summer.
