In the middle of the night, a train is blaring its horns, announcing its arrival at a wayside station. A man, casually walks across the tracks and takes position on a tiny pedestal. In his hand, a blazing torch and a hoop of wire with a pouch that contains a metallic ball. He then waits for the train to come straight at him.

Token exchange at Darshana Jn. for the Kolkata bound Dhaka - Kolkata international service as it arrives into Darshana

Darshana is the border station In Bangladesh.

The track that goes off the main line to the right was built after 1947 to reconnect the southern portion of the Jessore - Khulna line which landed in East Pakistan disconnected from the rest of the East Bengal (Pakistan) Railway. There is a station named Darshana Halt on this link line. The main Darshana station is on the line to Kolkata.
