    New Menus on #8

Pretty good lookin' menu. Hope they keep and improve the "cooked to order" aspect.
  2. Bring shims to jam into the rattling door. They work. For sound transfer, I use gaffers tape to tape along all seams of the door, including the floor. Helps a lot.

    National Menu Changes?

It just reeks of a disenfranchised, unempowered front line employee base trying to operate under a vague behemoth. Think opposite of Southwest airlines, where staff are empowered to just get things done.

    National Menu Changes?

This all sounds so very Office Space.

    Menu Capitol Limited?

Will I wholly concur with you.

    Recent Positive LSL Experience

72 grams. Thanks. Good gravy...that's nearly eating 3 full size Snickers bars for breakfast.

    Recent Positive LSL Experience

Any idea what the total sugar content was of that boxed brekkie?
  8. Here is a new review of CL new food service from a cross country rider: https://www.facebook.com/groups/AmtrakFansGroup/permalink/1100389373472070/

A Couple of Observations (from a Canadian)

I had simple passage thru Canadian customs as well. The Canadian is the best train trip I've taken and I hope to do it again someday!

1950's Zephyr food V Boxed Meals...

The present VIA Rail "Canadian" meal service is pretty close to that video, plus very friendly, welcoming, and with a sense of pride running thru all levels of service on that train. Ride it if you haven't!
  11. I was addressing the rider who wrote the review and was thus a sleeper and diner customer! People who don't use the diner shouldn't really be concerned with this thread anyhow!
  12. Nobody ever said the Metropolitan Lounge would close, and I personally think it will not. Amtrak even found out the old Lounge was too small and they needed more room. The Metropolitan Lounges WILL close. They were created under vastly different management. Current management sees lounges as nothing but a cost center and waste of real estate which could otherwise be fetching handsome rent. Remember, this is the same management that is already dismantling systemwide diner service. You'll never eat a decent meal on Amtrak again under their watch. There has been no move to eliminate the First Class lounges. The LEGACY Lounge MIGHT be closing. And it's one of two station lounges in Chicago, anyway. There is some somewhat unnecessary redundancy there. So how does this possibly equate to "current management sees lounges as nothing but a cost center and waste of real estate"? You should probably speak with a little less confidence (something I probably should do as well). Easily deduced from current management's priorities in action. I have a business background and have seen it before.
  13. Nothing was finer than dinner in the diner!

  15. What a terrible service. I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I'm glad I had the chance to ride this train when it had proper diner service, but I shan't ride it, or any other overnite train that doesn't have proper diner service....and neither should you.
