Blockade at Marysville, Ontario Affects VIA Trains Enroute to Toronto from Ottawa and Montréal
Updated: June 28th at 11h30 PM
--VIA Arranging Alternate Transportation For Affected Passengers --
--Services suspended on all trains on Montréal-Toronto and Ottawa-Toronto routes Friday - Other VIA routes not affected --
Due to the closure of CN's Montréal-Toronto rail line as a result of a blockage at Marysville, Ontario (about 15 km east of Belleville), all VIA services between Montréal-Toronto and Ottawa-Toronto have been suspended.
All other VIA train services are expected to operate on their normal schedules.
VIA was informed at 9:00 p.m. of the erection of this blockade, some three hours prior to the start of the National Day of Action. Affected are VIA train 69 enroute from Montréal to Toronto, and trains 47 and 49 enroute from Ottawa to Toronto. VIA is currently arranging for alternate transportation for over 400 affected passengers.
VIA is unfortunately unable to provide alternate transportation for any other of the other train services that will be affected tomorrow.
