The problem isn't in NOL. There are always several extra pieces of Superliner equipment in the NOL terminal. There isn't any extra stuff at LAX for the Sunset Limited, from what the Amtrak supervisor in LA told me on Wednesday night. we had to wait for them to turn that equipment completely...

Here is the lowdown. I got on the Sunset Limited in NOL going to LAX on Friday, May 28th... Some of the folks that got on in ORL told me they had to be bustituted to Sanford to board the train. It got into NOL about 5 hours late, did a quick load and go and we got to LAX on Sunday 4.5 hours...

I wonder if this is the reason the Crescent has been over an hour late the last 2 days out of NYC. I am taking it from TCL to NOL on the way to LAX....leaving Thursday afternoon. It would be nice to be close to on time. I would like to visit Cafe du Monde and Bubba Gump's in NOL on Thursday...

I upgraded once coming back from NYC on the Crescent...got a good price on a Roomette on an old Heritage sleeper. Mostly depends on availability. If they have it, the will sell it...

Yes....the mainline for the Crescent runs right behind Coleman Coliseum, the Track Stadium and the Football Practice Fields....Bear's tower is still there, and can be seen from the train. You can also see Bryant-Denny Stadium....it has sure changed over the years....seats 88,000 now with the 2...

Good news! It is booked as one reservation, both ways. I knew that, but just wanted to make sure. I would just opt to stay a night in New Orleans....I love that town. Go back on Sunday morning. I hope they give me that choice. Tideman James McKenzie
