    Tampa Union Station

I remember a story in Trains Mag back in the 80s showing the last departure from St. Pete.

    Tampa Union Station

Man I feel old, but there was a reason back in the day when the Silver trains ran 18 car consists that they would split in half at Jacksonville and some siding in Auburndale and half the trains would run to Tampa.

    Texas High Speed Rail

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Texas_Corridor Trans Texas Corridor- Texas tried that idea and it failed. Then Gov. Perry lost the marketing message and it died a political death.

If Texas Central had actual money to write checks the land owners would have gotten in line. Funny how landowners can deal with gas lines, pipelines, and utilities companies, entities that have money. The rural landowners have stated such. Why sign a contract with someone who promises to pay...

    Atlantic Coast (Silver/Palmetto/Carolinian) Service discussion Q4 2023 - 2024

So why not combine the two trains and have Silver Star run to Chicago? Never understood why the Silver Meteor was considered the premier train of the two. The Silver Star goes to bigger population centers.

    Capitol Limited discussion 2023 Q4 - 2024

So there is a rumor over on Trainorders of the Capital Limited going single level and the Silver Star stopping at Washington DC instead of NYC. The Cap would use the Silver Star's equipment and the Superliners would love back west. Or possibly combined into one train? Back in the day, didn't...

    Texas Eagle discussion

Yes, but this train has two consists because of the cancelled 22 two days ago.

So where did TE drop off a locomotive and four cars? STL?
  14. F

    Texas Eagle discussion

Weird, last night 22 was three locomotives and 8 cars long leaving Texas, but today in STL, over 4 hours late, it left with 5 cars and two locomotives.

So today's 22 from SAT is canceled of course and I guess tomorrow's 22 will look like the 22 from happier times with two locos , one of the two being ferried back to CHI, pulling 8 Superliners. No need to add the Superliner coach in STL.

Thanks, I meant whoever at Amtrak is sitting in front of a screen making these decisions, not a freight railroad dispatcher.

    Texas Eagle discussion

How is it a dispatcher in DC or CHI thinks it makes sense to hold 1 at SAT instead of putting connecting pax on a charter out of Temple or Austin and meet 1 at El Paso. Back in the good ole days of the 80s and 90s, Amtrak a few times put them on a SWA flight in DAL and flew them to El Paso and...

Sarcasm on........................So glad Amtrak left Sunset Station, it was a step up moving to a bus station in the shadow of the Alamo Dome (that we visitors are still paying for through hotel taxes but that is another story)..............................Sarcasm off...
