Should I take the "Amtrak Northeast Corridor" survey?

And there are few restrictions. A few blackout dates during peak holidays periods, understandably. The unfortunate part is it can't be used with an upgrade to business or Acela First Class, but still, I'll take it.

    Sightseer Lounge etiquette

You're also talking about an era when there was less entitlement and more manners and respect for other human beings.

Should I take the "Amtrak Northeast Corridor" survey?

I did this a couple of months ago and have yet to receive any information on how to use the discount. It is a legitimate, credible survey and is not a major time commitment.

    Brightline Trains West!

Here is the AP story on today's groundbreaking of the LV-LA Brightline. https://apnews.com/article/high-speed-train-vegas-los-angeles-brightline-595913ff2fa3d9001fb89bfab4e6c4d2

    Hotels convenient to Amtrak

Grounded Life Travel channel posted a video on hotels close to Amtrak stations. Most cited are fairly pricey but this couple travels all the time and uses points frequently for their stays.

VIA Rail Long Distance (LD) and Inter-Regional fleet replacement

But how would funding be handled? No appropriation from Parliament? I haven't a clue how these things work in Canada.

Amtrak Dining and Cafe Service discussion 2024 H1

The burger from the cafe car is probably different than in the full diner and unfortunately is nuked, but I actually agree with you. When I order it, I usually get a chuckle out of the attendant when I refer to it as the Amburger.

    Progress of Caltrain Electrification

What matters more: a reliable, dependable schedule and the perception of a smooth ride that includes quick and safe acceleration and deceleration and stopping. 10 MPH isn't gonna make a bit of difference to 96% of riders. Nothing irritates me more is poking along at 10 or 15 MPH during the last...

Long Distance (LD) fleet replacement RFP discussion 2024 H1

I may be accused of resistant to change, but I am hoping they stick with Superliner. It is a rather iconic moniker and will still be double deckers. And of course there is precedent given that Amtrak is continuing the Acela name with those brand new trainsets.

40K points for FNBO Preferred Mastercard

I just learned that FNBO has a new policy that will not allow one to have multiple cards from them. I had cancelled my preferred card and tried to reapply to get the 40K bonus offer and was rejected despite sterling credit. Unfortunately, this promotion is over but I was told flat out that the...

A little more on the second Pennsylvanian train, with operating estimate of $8 million annually. https://www.thecentersquare.com/pennsylvania/article_91f627b2-f6ac-11ee-a5a6-eb609858ba77.html

Pennsylvanian (the train(s) and route) discussion

It doesn't invoke fond memories for rail fans but I'm betting Amtrak revives The Three Rivers. Or something with Allegheny in it.

Pennsylvanian (the train(s) and route) discussion

Last I saw it's considered a done deal with an agreement with NS for $200 million of upgrades to the line, earliest start up in 2026. Not sure any actual work has begun on the infrastructure, however.

AGR FNBO Credit Card discussion 2023 H2 -2024

I have had nothing but positives to say about FNBO customer service. Unlike BofA, with which I could be on hold for 15 minutes or more, FNBO typically answers within moments and each interaction has been friendly, helpful and efficient.

Pennsylvanian (the train(s) and route) discussion

Right, we hadn't moved yet. Though as soon as she pulled it, we did lurch back a few feet which seemed odd. I'm thinking the engineer tried to accelerate at that exact moment but was prevented from moving forward.

Pennsylvanian (the train(s) and route) discussion

Some excitement on the train Saturday: waiting on departure of 43 in Philadelphia, which was moments overdue, a middle aged, slightly grey haired woman came running into BC in a panic, screaming "Emergency! Emergency!" Tried unsuccessfully to exit the front entry door to the platform which had...

    Northeast Regional discussion

My memory is not strong enough to remember in detail. Thought about screenshots but they might have detected that and I didn't have much time to complete it. There were a lot of questions. Many were the usual demographic ones and also a few to get a sense of one's experience on the NE...
