    Thanks to all for your replies, insights and guidance. Suppose it could have been worse. Grateful that Amtrak applied our original cost to the new tickets. Our take-away is to book travel one-way each way in the event we are late again. Sure does pay to be on time. Thanks again to everyone!

    Could this have been handled differently? We (4) knew we would be late for our Train 130 (BWI to NYP Round-Trip) departing at 6:57 AM. This was a Saver ticket at $392.00.
