Another Messed Up Train in the Making

I was a little surprised to see the Sunset Limited this morning when I went for breakfast at the Hotel Congress in Tucson. Only 8 hours late, heck, I remember one time a couple of years ago when # 1 came through 48 hours late.

    SUNSET LIMITED ARRIVES ON TIME

Looks like the Sunset Limited's back to "normal", # 1 departed Tucson 7 hours late this morning.

How will they get me to my train?

We took the Starlight and Empire Builder eariler this month. Rather then risk a misconnection we planned an overnight at Portland. Connecting passengers on the northbound Starlight, which was running about 2 hours late, were advised that they would be bussed from Eugene to connect with with #...

    SUNSET LIMITED ARRIVES ON TIME

Wasn't the Sunset Limited "on time" once last month, only a couple of days late?

    Is the train on time?

I was drivin' down to Tucson on I-10 this afternoon, about quarter to two, when I passed the eastbound Sunset Limited parked in a siding. It was scheduled to arrive in Tucson at 8:00 AM

UP track work could affect Sunset LTD

Having achieved zero percent on time performance it can't get worse, except, of course, for the average delayed arrival, which I'm told was almost 7 hours at LAX last month.

Trains 1&2 will not run due to delays

I just stopped by the Tucson station on my way home from work. As of 6:30 PM MST the train hadn't arrived yet, but the inspection crew and fuel truck were there waiting for it. They said that all the passengers left at El Paso.

Trains 1&2 will not run due to delays

I don't have a clue as to why it's late, it still hasn't made it to Tucson yet.

Trains 1&2 will not run due to delays

You're absolutely correct AMTRAK-P42, I should have written # 1, which, by the way is now: # 2 left Tucson yesterday morning, the same day as scheduled, only 30 minutes late. :o

    Parking at WAS Union Station

Some of the metrorail stations have parking for commuters at around $3-4 a day, then you could take the metrorail train to Union Station and avoid driving into the city. From the metro transit website:

    Diesel Fuel

There is a difference in the composition of diesel fuel used on the highways and in nonroad, locomotive and marine fuels. Current EPA regulations limit sulfur content in highway fuels to 500 parts per million. In 2006 the sulfur limit in highway fuel will be reduced to 15 ppm, and in 2007 the...

    Train#2 today, what happened

According to the printed schedule the eastbound and westbound Sunset Limited should pass through Tucson today (Thursday, July 1), but according to the train status feature on the website: Yesterday's 6:40 AM scheduled arrival at Los Angeles got in at 5:40 PM

    Train#2 today, what happened

Trains #1 and #2 are perpetual service disruptions, (thanks to UP) if they ran the trains backwards they'd be on time at least once a day.

    Very late (for the Builder)

Funny, you mention the ol' Sunset Limited, which according to the Amtrak website, lists Thursday's scheduled 8:17 PM Tucson arrival as an actual arrival at 3:29 PM!!

    Amtrak reward points

They'll certainly issue you the 1 zone, 3 train tickets, but they won't let you book overnights so you can be sure of making the connections without using a seperate reward for each of the segments. Sure, they "guarantee" the connections, they can bus you to head off the next train off at the...
