Departed Philly thru 30th St Station this morning. No more than what I would call the usual amount of confusion. Traffic control going up all over near the outdoor venues though.

Perhaps we could haul back on the throttle somewhat? Big cities mean big congestion, I get it. Maybe discussing coping strategy(s) is a better use of time and effort?

We have round trip reservations for Winter Park (FL) to Philadelphia in September (bucket list trip). Is this what we'll encounter? Overnight without a dining car?

We are passing thru 30th St Station the day before! Thankfully. We made plans before I knew about the Papal visit. Am not looking forward to being even that close.

The journey is an event separate from the arrival and should be enjoyed as such - ie think of the bragging rights you have when you get home. Wife hates to fly. We were coming home from Reno and had an opportunity (plane was over booked) to get a courtesy voucher if we were willing to stay over...

Nope you're right. It's Value and Flexible fares. Big difference is listed as Refundable with Restrictions (Value) vs Fully Refundable (Flexible). We will be 3 adults, 2 are seniors. So other than Refunds and Price, the seats are the same, Unreserved. But what else, if anything, is involved...

Not Value versus Flexible. Don't have the Amtrak page in front of me but, going by memory, what I saw was all coach fares for the Keystone. 2 of the fares looked identical except for price with the pricer being about 2x as much without enough description for me to see the difference.
