We too have about a 4 hour layover in Chicago. Would love to wander around outside Union Station, but what do you do with luggage? Can you check luggage that early? What about carry ons? Are there lockers you can put them in?

Thanks all for your responses. I did call Amtrak and inquire about getting a sleeper. There are some available but the person I talked to made it clear that the only time our group could get together would be in the dining or lounge car since those of us who did not have tickets for the sleeper...
