    EB #8 Sunday

Oh, you'll make your connection. It will, however, be a nasty little shuttle van if you miss #354. Just be glad you're not going all the way to Dearborn/Detroit.

    Trouble at NOLUS

NICE! :-) I can't top that, but after this post:   "Sounds like you found one of these walking around with a big chip on his shoulder / inferiority complex / inflated sense of his own importance / intent to be ruler of all he surveys."   Did anyone else get a vision of Barney Fife?

    Noise level in roomettes?

Snoring? I've never heard snoring due to the train noise and also the fact that I'm told my log sawing is rather extreme. 58/59 is a very rougher route... If you are susceptible to motion sickness don't forget the meds.

    Coach seats on LD trains

I think the coach vs sleeper decision rests solely on the depth of your pockets. A sleeper will help insure you arrive fresh and rested, but only you can decide if that is worth the hefty price tag? Some trains are certainly more costly than others. So you may want to mix it up.

    Complaint with Amtrak Conductor

Back when they had TVs in those rooms! I've never had to use the call button, but will vouch for their existence. I'm guessing they are at least as reliable as the PA sytsem.

    Complaint with Amtrak Conductor

It is certainly true that Amtrak can't handle what is never reported, however, after many reports (both good and bad), I get the impression that Amtrak (customer relations) can't (or won't) handle what is reported. How are these do-nothings evaluated and by whom? It is a very sad situation. I...

    Complaint with Amtrak Conductor

Unfortunately this is far from an isolated incident. Discipline is almost non-existent and there is practically an infinte number of steps involved in a termination. The combination of shoddy equipment and surly staff has to be tough on repeat business... err passengers. Being treated like a...

If You Could Initiate One New Amtrak Route..........

How about: Toronto - Detroit (Dearborn) - Cincinnati - Atlanta - Orlando (Jacksonville?)

    Sunset limited to orlando

Florida likely has the largest population of the demographic of an "average" Amtrak LD customer. These retirees have both the resources and the nostalgic desire.

    Bar Car

The Bullet Lounge in the Canadian's Park Car is the only "bar car" I've been in. Most Amtrak train's offer libations in the their various snack cars.

    Sunset limited to orlando

From a simple logistical standpoint, how many Floridians are willing to go to Washington DC and Chicago in order to get to the west coast?

    Train Service Attendant

I know that, 48/49 has crews in both NYC and CHI (one horrible and one outstanding, care to guess?). I'd guess that similar arrangements are in place on trains with one overnight, with a possible exception of 21/22, 58/59 being as it is NOL, CHI, SAN.

    Viewliner/Superliner Roomette Assignments

My preference is for a roomette that does not require duct tape to keep the door closed. As for temerature, I too prefer it cool and am generally quite comfortable, many complain about it being too cool.
