To tip or not to tip?

A sincere thank you to those who replied with a useful response to my question regarding tipping. What I find sad is how some of you long time members responded with rude and snide comments about how this topic has been beat to death. I hope I never get to be like you. So get off your high...

To tip or not to tip?

Thanks ehbowen, for your understanding and patience with my seemingly over-used question. I now know how the topic search works. But I had no idea how upsetting this is for some people on this forum - which I think is rather rude and most unwelcoming. They must see I am a newbie, so how about...

To tip or not to tip?

Sorry folks if my question has already been discussed on previous threads. I searched, but after considerable effort, was unable to find any links to my questions. I'll have to try harder. A big thanks to all who kindly replied which answered my question very well. WOW, thanks for this info...

To tip or not to tip?

Howdy, I've heard various unofficial opinions about tipping on Amtrak long distance sleeper train travel. My question: are the staff (dining and car attendants) well paid, or do they depend on tips and if so how much is acceptable? Many thanks, Hugh Martell

choose a specific roomette on Superliner

Something you train wizards probably already knew, but I just learned: Yesterday I booked my train #11 and 14 on the return SEA - LAX - SEA trying for a roomette as close to the centre of any car upper deck. On-line, I found one price that was OK for me. But to get my wish of a certain car and...

choose a specific roomette on Superliner

Good points you made. Perhaps for those who want to travel from, say, Seattle to L.A.X.', on train #11, an option to reserve certain bedrooms could be created for their benefit?

choose a specific roomette on Superliner

I was thinking exactly the same thing the other day.

choose a specific roomette on Superliner

Thanks to everyone responding to my questions. I've decided to not sweat which side I'm on, but rather enjoy whatever I get. I just joined this forum and am so happy that there are folks with lots of train experience to share. Kudos to all! :)

choose a specific roomette on Superliner

Thank you to all who kindly replied to my question. Got one more.....on boarding, if I find my roomette is on the 'undesirable' side of the car, does the room attendant have the power to change my room? (assuming there is space) Thanks.

choose a specific roomette on Superliner

Hi, I want to know if I can book a particular roomette # on a Superliner. I also want to be able to chose which side of the train the roomette is on. eg. going south on the Starlight #11 train, I want to be on the right (generally looking west) side. Thanks for any help.
