Love the CZ and Cardinal! Have done Cardinal numerous times to/from Cincinnati and NJ, but did the Cardinal from Cincinnati to Chicago and connected to the CZ to Emeryville this past May. Just turned 60 and stayed in a roomette. Awesome trip!

I just came off a 3-train trip, and heard the same message noted by SarahZ above. With a limited number available, it seemed to be a tactful way of getting folks to make an informed d3cision to either walk, or wait it out.

Sorry, Im not sure I understand the response. Ive been booked since last November. And no doubt others have booked since. Would car 0533 be considered less desirable, so Im being punished or downgraded for paying a lesser fare? Or does it truly not make a difference which car?

I recently made a request for the lower fare, but did not check my tickets after doing so, only the receipt. So now, after reading your comments, I did check. We still have roomette #5, but apparently now car 0533 as opposed to 0531. Just curious why, and whats the difference? In other words...

Thanks for the replies. We made the change, and even got a few bucks back in the form of an evoucher due to a slightly shorter route. Speaking of checked bags, do they transfer automatically to the CZ, or do we have to retrieve in Chicago? Also, just curious, how often do you hear of bags...
