Well, got pizza again on the return trip and it worked perfectly. Domino's guy was walking up just as I was getting off the train. I saw someone else with Pizza Hut too so there must be one of those in the area as well. With the number of people who look jealous when I do that, I'm amazed...
Well, just thought I'd post this for everyone.
I ordered my pizza from the train from the Havre Domino's and the pizza guy was waiting on the platform when we pulled in. :)
Just called Dominos in Havre, MT and asked if they deliver to the Amtrak Station and he said sure. Said they get 1 of those every day or so and seemed like it's no big deal. He asked if I'd be East or West bound and said that since I'm Westbound I'll be stopping at the fueling stop before the...
Howdy,
We're heading from Milwaukee to Seattle leaving this Saturday. I've read some things about people ordering pizza delivery and having it delivered to the station when there's a layover. Just wondering if anyone has done this and how it worked out.
Based on the PDF Schedule, I'm...
According to this page, each person can bring TWO carry ons and TWO personal items? In addition to 2 Checked bags? Is that right?

We're heading from Milwaukee to Seattle (2 overnights) and my wife and 2 kids are both Gluten Free and somewhat dairy free. I know the train can't accommodate that so we're planning on them bringing enough food for the trip. However, we're not sure about keeping it cold and are looking for any...
Anyone can book the lower level seats. When you buy the tickets online there's just a radio button for Upper or Lower. We're going to be bringing most of our own food with us and figure we'll just be up in the lounge/sightseer car for most of the trip anyway.
Well, thanks for all the advice a few months ago. I just booked our trip from MKE to SEA. We went with Coach Seats on the Lower Level so it's hopefully quieter and less foot traffic to interrupt the kids sleeping and to help with my wife's safety worries... :)
Thanks.
OK, so how does AmSnag work?
When I go to Amtrak.com and get a quote and then compare that to AmSnag, I get different numbers. Is that normal?
Using MKE to SEA and 8/16/16 as the date:
When I look at the 16th in Amsnag, it's $140 for each adult and $70 for each kid which is 280 + 140 = 420...
I took a quick look at the AmSnag site and it looks like I just put in the From, To, and Date information and see what I get? It doesn't seem to allow for specifying kids or anything like that, is that right?
When I just use Amtrak's own site, it loosk like our family would be $420 (Saver)...
For variety we considered taking a more southern route home. However, is there a way around paying for each portion separately? For instance, doing Seattle to Milwaukee via the Coast Starlight to California Zephyr route?
So for the cities that have an Ar and Dp time, does that signify that the train will be in that station for a while? E.g. Shelby, MT says Ar 5:22, Dp 5:51 so it would be at that station for 30 minutes?
Does the Empire Builder make stops at specific places that would last long enough to have food delivered? I'm assuming none of the stops are long enough to actualyl run into town and buy food. Are certain stops longer because they restock supplies and things like that? I think it'd be awesome...
