My grandfather retired as an engineer with the Pennsylvania RR in 1963; after 44 years of service. He and my grandmother moved to Florida; and my mom and I rode
Seaboard's Silver Meteor from Trenton NJ to West Palm Beach every Easter from 1965 until 1971. I had the most fun back then riding in the tavern-observation car;
enjoying the dining car with fine food cooked on board. Riding in coach; riding in a roomette. Railroading is in my blood. Since those days I enjoyed traveling on
Amtrak through the 80's & 90's on every long distance train and route - coast to coast. My last trip on Amtrak was the Auto Train in 2011. I do not have the desire
to ride the Amtrak of today. To many service issues. As my best friend says - "why spoil all the good memories".
