Those on tonight's (4/8) #59 out of Chicago will be saddened that there is not a sightseer lounge in the trainset.
I know that CONO sometimes has two on it to help meet CN's axel requirement.
I'm sure that they will need to add some more coaches to the Pennsylvanian to accommodate the Keystone passengers if needed. I know that at times, the Pennsylvanian can become pretty crowded around that area. I plan on watching the railcams around the start of that time to see what ends up being...
From what I've experienced, Chicago does have a gift shop where some clothing items are sold. Cincinnati's Union Station's gift shop had some of the kid items there. I wouldn't see them being sold on actual trains any time soon though.
When I was there recently, I wondered the same thing about the structure outside near the entrance. @PaTrainFan I'm glad you got a peek inside.
I'm assuming this is something for the maintenance staff as their area is behind that sliding door right before the escalator/stairs. My other other...
I usually online railfan #59 at night from the railcams that it passes, but I saw that tonight (2/29)'s southbound CONO from Chicago was cancelled. I couldn't find an explanation on Amtrak's website for the cancellation (via Train Status) nor on the AmtrakAlerts Twitter page. Does anyone know...
Those aboard tonight's (2/27) #30 from Chicago tonight got the treat of having a sightseer lounge car added to their trainset.
I'm sure that its purpose was deadheading, but I'm sure they opened it up to passengers on board as it is between the other two superliners.
When I travel from Columbus to take the Pennsylvanian in the early morning, I park in the Greyhound's parking garage. It's very convenient, but from what I've seen inside the actual Greyhound area, it has been somewhat shady and I did feel unsafe. Although, when I pay for parking there, there is...
Usually while I'm at the station railfanning and watching the CL pass through from the upstairs area right before I head onto the Pennsylvanian, I've heard the attendants tell the CL passengers that there is a Starbucks nearby (about 15 min walk, shown below) but it doesn't open until 7A. It's a...
Not sure if these posts would be moved to the Ohio finally starts the process for new Amtrak service thread, but we appreciate the share @dlagrua ! As an Amtrak railfan in Columbus itself, I'm hopeful, but I know it's quite a long ways away.
From what I've been seeing on railcams, tonight's EB #30 had a deadheading amfleet cafe car at the rear.
It doesn't look like it was in revenue service, and did not utilize its native lights (as it had an EOTD / end of train device). I know sometimes they attach amfleet cafe cars on other...
I was in a venture car not too long ago and utilized the bathroom while on board. The bathroom is more spacious to help accommodate wheelchair access as well.
I do have to say that Thom from Trains Are Awesome did a very well done and content-rich compilation vid of all of the liveries throughout Amtrak's run. His channel is my favorite Amtrak and transit channel to watch and I just wanted to highlight his video here.
