Normally you do. The Amtrak station in SLC is only open overnight (10pm to 5am approximately). In 2010 I had a long layover in SLC and was able to use a locker in the Greyhound Station. I kind of doubt there are still lockers Greyhound keeps removing them from their terminals for some reason.

Are you staying at a hotel? If so, I believe many hotels will hold your luggage after check out so you can still do things around town before heading to the airport.

Do you have to be an Amtrak traveller/customer to use this luggage storage service? I ask because we have a five hour wait for our flight in Salt Lake City, and don't really want to spend all the time at the airport, but at the same time don't want to cart luggage around the city.

Salt Lake City is a very small building, but it does handle checked baggage. While I did not use this service when I was on the train there last year, they should be able to hold baggage for you if necessary for a nominal fee. Bear in mind that this station is only open at night, from around 10pm to 5 am.

Does anyone know what the "luggage storage" option at Salt Lake City is? I'm not sure what "left luggage" is supposed to be. Anyone know how much it costs?

Thanks,
Andrew
