My wife and myself took the Texas Eagle back in Feb.The train to Chicago was on time.Last time it was 5 hours late[gate crossings out]& the wife said never again! So we made it to Chicago, got some grub & got a seat with the rest of the crowd waiting for their trains. The Southwest Chief was leaving on time, and we had us a Deluxe room.Well the trip down was slow[due "of coarse"to Heavy freight ]& my wife was not good with the rocking effect. But I enjoyed it alot/nice view/nice food/nice people /nice Amtrak employe's.Anyhow,we ended up being 4 or 5 hours late & we steped off the train in San Antonio into a blizzard! My wife won't go by rail [ for now ],but I'm heading out again in May.....happy rails

My girlfriend is the same way. Firs time I took her on the Capitol, and it was 6 hours late. Each other trip that we have taken, the train at one point or other was at least 5 hours late.
