I guess we will see a Railway Age article soon, blaming the flood on Anderson.
Yeah, he used his special direct link to the big guy to arrange a trial run of the bus bridge.

I am on #4 right now sitting in La Junta, CO. We are waiting for the crew that takes us to Albuquerque to be rested. They just announced that this train will run through to Albuquerque. There will NOT be a bus bridge today.

Was there much jubilation and merriment when the "no bus bridge" announcement was made?

It probably depends on how bad the delay was predict to be. Lamy-ABQ is short enough that a super long delay would probably inconvenience passengers more than the bus bridge.

Don't you mean that you are on #3? La Junta to Albuquerque is 'westbound', so #3, not #4.....

You are correct. I am desperately lacking in sleep as well. It doesn’t help that most of the consist numbers on this train still read 04XX. This train was pretty late into Chicago on Thursday and the parties responsible did a poor job of prepping this train for its next run.

So what is going on now? Today (Sun 7/29) #4 is estimated to arrive in Albuquerque four hours late. That's before it even reaches possible slow running due to the earlier washout between ABQ and Lamy.

I see that it left LAX 4 minutes late and departed Fullerton 4 hrs 53 minutes late. Engine breakdown? trespasser?

As far as through running goes 3 and 4 are running through as the tracks have been fixed.

As for what else is happening, that is a matter for consideration in some other thread I suppose

#4 struck a trespasser between LA & Fullerton last night.

Doesn’t sound good for the trespasser. If injured, they would be off to the hospital post haste and the train would be released shortly thereafter.

But if the trespasser expired onsite, then Calif law requires the coroner to arrive before the train can be released. That could take hours on a Saturday night.
