Sometime this year, I plan to do a short bicycle tour in Vermont. I will likely drive to Brattleboro then ride my bicycle to Burlington and return on the Vermonter.

Is anyone familiar with the train station in Brattleboro? Google maps seems to show parking on Depot St. Is that free parking? Is it permissible to leave a vehicle there for a few days?

Until someone chimes in with useful info, why not just call and ask? There's a museum next to the station - someone there might know something. Someone at the police station should know too.

I really hate when people, not just you

, say "just call". Not everyone can use a phone.

Well certainly I can. But nothing beats first hand experience. Why I am posting here.

As a touring cyclist I have other avenues too. We have an organization to which I belong and there are members in town. I might just see if I can park a car at their home. But it would be kind of nice to be right at the station when I arrive back in town.

I am thinking that I will ride my bike to Burlington and return on the train. Logistically it just works out better because I will be staying at least one night in Burlington

But the police are an excellent idea. Maybe I can even park right at the police station?. I know of at least one town that does this for out of town cyclists that want to leave their car.

Dad and I rode from Brattleboro in Dec 2014. There was limited parking at the station and I'm not sure if overnight was allowed. In addition to calling the police which is an excellent idea, you might try the local chamber of commerce or town hall. I seem to remember a lot of side streets nearby that might be ok, of course not sure about potential crime. It's small town Vermont...can't be that bad!

As mentioned, there is limited free parking at the station and overnight is no problem, as the engineers do (or did) always park overnight at the station.
