There has been no significant change in the methodology of rail fare plus accommodation charge.

For paying cash, agreed.

There has been a significant change for AGR redemptions, but it’s utterly unclear what the OP is talking about.

I just did a sample and for 1 person the bedroom was 1369.

Below is for 2 people.  1521-1369 = 152.  152x2 = 304

2 Reserved Coach Seats  $666.00

Viewliner Bedroom  $1521.00

I thought I understood this stuff, but that second line that starts with "2 Reserved Coach Seats" has me confused. What costs $304 and what costs $666?

$304 is the value column and $666 is the flexible column
I had tried to do a screenshot but it didn’t work as I had wanted. Sorry I didn’t clarify that on my original post.

Thanks, AmtrakBlue. Like many things, it makes sense after an explanation, but it was confusing before.

The second person pays the Coach fare. Under AGR 1.0 the other person did not have to pay the Coach fare. I got in one last redemption under the old system about a year and a half ago using the Zone system. 40000 points Toledo to LA using the Capitol Limited and Texas Eagle and return LA to Toledo using the Coast Starlight,Empire Builder and Lake Shore Ltd. That same trip would be at least double the points with AGR 2.0

One plus two plus one plus ...

I think this thread is using new math. But then New Math is now old, having been invented in the 1960s. That's before Amtrak. So doesn't this belong in Travelogues as that's the only forum I can find for old things?
