In my experience some amtrak stations have parking passes available for those with Amtrak tickets. I am curious whether this is the case in LA union station which is located in downtown LA where parking is at a premium and is usually expensive as I am planning to depart from there sometime in September. So anyone with experience departing from Union station do you mind answering this question? Do ticketed Amtrak customers get any kind of discount at the Gateway garage or do they pay the same rate as everyone else there? I heard the rate is $8 a day as of August 2017 is this still correct?

Believe the $8 a Day for the Covered Parking is still available/ thats,a deal for LA!

You may be better off riding a Surfliner or the Subway/Light Rail to Union Station IMO. EZ/PZ!!!

No freebies at LAUS. Yes it is $8.00 per day which is for the underground parking located on the Eastern Side of the Station. $8.00 per day is a bargain in LA. Parked their for couple of weeks many times with no issues. Also, its underground, covered, and patrolled by LA County Sheriff Department and Metro so I would say $8.00 is a steal.

We do the $8 a day parking frequently - a great deal considering its downtown LA! I've parked there for as much as two or three weeks at a time.

Scroll down to parking info...for more than three days they have a form to fill out and leave at the parking office. Can be downloaded at the link above.
Is this something new? I've filled out any forms and left it at the parking office before.

I always start my trip from Van Nuys (VNC). It has a guarded park and ride lot that is free. Take the Surfliner to Union Station, 20 min. trip stopping at Burbank Airport and Glendale.

I've parked there in the past without filing the form (I didn't know about it). The past few years, since becoming aware, I have filed the form when we park there for extended periods. I don't know what (if anything) would happen if the form wasn't filed.
