On Saturday 7/18/17 I was coming in to Chicago on the eastbound 6 California Zephyr. At Naperville we met the westbound California Zephyr and to my pleasant surprise the last 2 cars on the train were an ex Sante Fe Big Dome lounge car and behind it was another passenger car in Illinois Central (Chocolate over Orange) colors. I am assuming that the last car was an sleeper but whatever it was does anyone know about those 2 private cars and/or where they were heading to? There was at least one person in the ex Sante Fe Big Dome Lounge Car. It was stainless steel however it was marked in black lettering on the side for some company that I don't recall.

Cars were Sky View & Baton Rouge and went all the way on the Zephyr. They are then headed all the way up on 14. Others can elaborate more on car ownership and heritage.

It turns out that the ex Santa Fe Big Dome had Iowa Pacific printed on the side of the car just below the Dome. I t was apparently one of several cars that the Iowa Pacific had at one time repainted in Illinois Central Colors but is currently in the Original Stainless Steel.I I believe that it might have been used in their New Orleans service which was known as Pullman Rail Journeys. The car current belongs to Iowa Pacific holdings and is sometimes used for Charter service.
