From the Financial Express:

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu led Indian Railways is going to run a trans-continental container train full of goods from Dhaka to Istanbul, which would cover a 6,000-km journey across five countries – Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Iran and Turkey. It is codenamed as ITI-DKD-Y corridor, the route the container train will follow will be Dhaka-Kolkata-Delhi-Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul. Eventually, Yangon will also be connected to Dhaka after the missing Tamu-Kalay link in Myanmar is completed.

The total distance is over 6,000km and involves one gauge change at Zahedan in Iran

Surprisingly, the rail service is going to be considerably faster than a typical container ship from Dhaka/Pyara/Kolkata/Haldia ports to Istanbul. The distance that a ship has to traverse is apparently considerably longer than the train, and the train can theoretically at least run at a faster speed. As for what will actually happen is another matter, specially through Pakistan/Balochistan.
