It was one of the July 4th exception trains. The timetable on the website doesn't really make note of the July 4th exceptions. Another example is 2211 operated today.
 
Oh, that explains it. On Saturday I rode up to New York on a 2248, which is not found in the timetable. So Thanksgiving isn't the only time they do holiday specials.

They change schedules around most major holidays. This change was a bit problematic since they just changed schedules 7/3 and will change schedules on 7/10 as well. A few things fell through the cracks.
