after trip to grand canyon, would coach or roomette be better from flagstaff to los angeles in september

I myself for that short of a trip would go coach. It is only from late evening to early morning.

If you went sleeper, yes you would get a lie flat bed, but you may be too late for dinner and breakfast has only 1 setting at like 5 am.

Probably coach, unless sleeping in a seat is impossible/uncomfortable for you.

By the way, for breakfast after you get off at LA, check out Olvera Street (couple places open there around that time) and Philippe's, which has great food and some old railroad pictures & stuff.

We did that trip. We got a roomette. I am glad we did as train back to LA was hours late. And we were really tired. Was nice to get a little rest for LA.

No doubt a roomette would be better, but would cost considerably more than a couple of coach seats.

So if cost is not a consideration get a roomette.

Breakfast on the SWC entails a limited menu in addition to being quite early and only 1 sitting.

The Café is usually open to Fullerton.
