Car Location on the Lakeshore & California Zephyr

Again, I know this has been asked before, he has sleeper #4911 is it beside the diner/cafe or 2nd from it on the end of the train/baggage car ?

On #5 he has sleeper #0533 back or front of the train? I know there has been talk already that they will not be moving this summer season.

Is he beside the diner 2nd car from it ?

On #5, counting up from the DC, 0531, 0532, 0533 and on #49, again counting up from the DC, 4910, 4911. The lowest number is next to the DC. The CZ starts with 31 while LSL starts with 10. The standard is that all sleeping cars numbers have the lowest number closest to the DC.

It looks like the #5 (27) had no Transition Dorm car, just 3 sleepers behind the baggage car.

It's looking like the Sleeper cars will be staying at the forward end of the Consist and not switched to the end of the consist as in previous years for Spring, Summer, Fall months (high season).

On our last two CZ trips to DEN, 8/15 and 8/16 the three sleepers were in the rear, the dining car next and then you walked through one or two coaches to get to the sightseer lounge car. Taking the same trip to DEN 6/17 and expect the same consist.

Just came back from CA on the CZ. Sleepers were forward and coaches were in back on both 5 and 6. (Departed DEN on 4-20.)

In the past couple of years the switch back to putting the sleepers on the tail end of the consist had happened by this late in April.

Other recent CZ riders had been told by OBS that, like the Coast Starlight & Southwest Chief, the sleepers would now stay in front of the dining car henceforth on the CZ.

I've boarded the #5 April 30 in 2014 and the sleepers were at the rear. the Dining car and SSL were between the sleepers and the coach cars.

I rode the CZ last October and it was the same - Locos, bag, trans dorm, 3 coach cars, SSL, Diner, 3 sleepers.

As of today the sleeper cars are still in front of the dining car - Locos, bag, trans dorm, 2 sleepers, diner, SSL, 3 coach cars.

When they add the 3rd sleeper, if the consist remains the same, Sleepers forward, we will know how it will be this summer.

Sleepers still on the front of #6 on 04 MAY. SCA says the move of sleepers to the rear of the consist is scheduled for 23 MAY.
