Tried to find info on the updated SAC Station, no luck! :( Any info and/or pics would be appreciated!

Thanx
No pics, but supposedly the Station is finished at long last and finally there is AC in the Station.!( it gers very Hot in SAC in the Summer)
The Sleeper Waiting area is available for those waiting for a train, and the walk thru the tunnel to the New Platforms is quite a hike.

Thanx,

I was wondering about food at the station since I heard Perkos closed???

Is there a special place for Sleeper Passengers to wait?

Yep, there is a small area reserved for Sleeping Car pax in the Lobby. Last time I was there it had a couch and chairs but no amenities.
There is a Starbucks in the Old Express Building by the Station and the Vagabond Inn (reasonable and decrnt, similar to the Metro Plazain LA)across the street has a small dining room that served pretty decent chow the last time I stayed there. (Last Fall).

Not pictured are the new restaurant on the west side of the station or the track platforms that are a bit of a walk to the north side of the station.

Perko's, as in the nasty chain-restaurant that has rightfully garnered the nickname "Puke-oh's", is indeed history. In its place, and in the same building (which was a Denny's before being Perko's) is an independent and locally-owned diner-type restaurant. Decent chow, and middle-of-the-road service. These days, if a few more blocks distance are not an issue, much of the area south of the station that was formerly lacking anything of note has gained a considerable number of new restaurants and stores. This is mainly due to the new Kings/Golden 1 Arena, but in general the Sacramento downtown is experiencing a Renascence. There's even a pulse of life after 5 PM on weekdays, when all the Government offices close.

The new station is still pretty vacant outside of the Amtrak areas. The former freight docks on the eastern side of the building are waiting for the city to make a push for the proposed indoor farmers market, but I expect that to be high on the priorities list by mid Summer. I hear rumor that the restaurant space that occupies the area where the old subway entrance to the historic platforms went down is in final lease signing, so maybe by August there will be something there.

And lastly: the hike IS NOT THAT BAD. You easily walk considerably farther at several Amtrak stations in the system, and you absolutely walk farther if you use any major airport. And for those adverse to walking, there is motorized cart service for every single one of the 52 trains a day that the station serves that brings you from station to your train car and/or back.
