It was my first time on the Eagle in quite a few years. I flew up to STL from DFW and took the Metrolink train to the Civic Center station, which is right next to the Amtrak/Greyhound station. It was about a 35 minute ride. I killed about an hour in the "First Class Lounge" (pretty nice, about the same as the Magnolia Room in NOL I think) before train #21 arrived, about 20min behind schedule.

Boarded the Sleeping Car where a very friendly SCA introduced herself, and got settled into room 10.

Then I went to the Diner for dinner. It was about 8pm and there were only two passengers eating. Had a table to myself. Nice garden salad, roll, and a delicious steak dinner. Cheesecake cup for desert. Friendly service, too.

Back to the room around 9, had the bed put down, turned out all the lights, and listened to some music while watching the small towns pass by. I appreciated the portions of jointed rail every so often. Decided to call it a night after leaving the new Arcadia station.

Kind of a restless sleep, but I was very comfortable. Found myself waking up at all of the stops. Track seemed worse in Arkansas. The early arrival and long stop in LIT made me fall asleep quickly, and I didn't wake up until around 0630.

Had a delicious breakfast in a 1/4 full Dining Car around 7. Biscuits with jalapeño gravy. It was the special, and it was tasty. Then chilled in the Sightseer Lounge for a bit before returning to my room.

Stepped off in Longview for some fresh air. Watched about eight passengers board the Houston bus.

Early arrival into DAL, around 1105.

Bought a DART rail ticket and took the train to DFW airport then back to my hotel (Hyatt Regency DFW).

Overall, a very relaxing, enjoyable ride. Pics below...
