Does Amtrak still mail systemwide timetable?

Does Amtrak still mail systemwide timetable?

I requested one a year or two ago directly on their website.

However, the timetable is no longer listed as one of the

available publications that customers can request....

Last I heard, the national timetable is no longer available as a printed publication anywhere. However, a PDF version can be downloaded from Amtrak's website.

Correct.

There is no longer a printed combined system timetable. (But there is one online.) Individual timetables for each route will still be printed.

At south station on the 26th of December they had ample copies of the last printed timetable.

I requested one last month but have not received anything. I suspect they are no longer available. Alas.

I was just at the Club Acela and was told even though they stopped making them, they have cases of the old version, which was dated a year ago.

I really love having the printed time table, but thats the way the world is changing. I just spent the weekend in NYC, and for the first time, I did not bring a map, or guidebook, or camera, or any tickets. I just used my phone.

And that works, though sometimes you don't know enough to know what you are looking for. Does that make sense?

And we had a small emergency when my charger died, and I had no way to access all that wonderful technology. I ended up buying a portable battery pack for someone shady looking for a small fortune.

I agree that the passing of the printed system titebale is sad. But I also see that it makes sense and there is no holding back the hands of time.

Nowadays even the like of Google Maps have timetable information and so working out how to get from here to there is just so much easier.

I was bemused to note that some young folks who recently visited were unable to actually use the printed timetable. Maybe this art is going the same way as that of using a sliderule.
