Hello. I am looking at traveling to Tampa in a few months and I will need a rental car. It looks like AAA has good prices and they are located around 1.2 miles from the Tampa Station (North Nebraska Ave). The address for the Hertz is 700 South Florida Ave. Looks to be pretty much directly south of the Amtrak. My question is how walkable is this? I don't mind walking a mile, but I can't really tell from the street view in Google Maps if there are sidewalks the whole way, and if it is a safe walking area. I'm not sure how easy it would be to take a cab, or how long it may take to get one, so walking may be the best option. It would be in the middle of the day (not at night). Or if anyone has any other rental car recommendations that is closer to the Amtrak station, or even one in the station (I couldn't find one), that would be a help too. Thanks!!

Most Hertz non-airport locations will come and pick you up. If not, take a cab or Uber/Lyft.

Several years ago i dropped off a Hertz car at a Marriott a mile or two away by the waterfront and then took the streetcar to within a few blocks walk of Amtrak.

I was picked up by Hertz at the station. I decided to walk back after the return with my one roller bag. There were sidewalks on all streets.

Call Enterprise, they will pick you up at the station.
That's our solution. Enterprise has been efficient in picking us up and came though on our last 5 trips without a hitch. Switched about 5 years back after a bad experience with Hertz at CUS. Enterprise also costs less than Hertz and has the same quality and type of vehicles..
