Hi, taking trip from N.Y. to Orlando, is there a better day of the week to travel, or does it really matter?

I would say Monday thru Sunday, or whichever is your fun Day!

Seriously, I have no idea. What is your criteria, fare prices, crowding on the train, weather, timetables, etc., etc., or something else? Give us a hint.

I have found that Tuesday and Saturday have the best fares, providing they do not proceed a holiday.

Also, one the Silver's, the October and November southbound trains and the March and April northbound

trains are usually more expensive. The summer fares (when children out of school) are high when many

trains are selling out.

If by "best" you mean least expensive, the only meaningful way to find out is by doing an AmSnag search that covers your window of travel. Rules of thumb based on weekends & holidays are usually based on past experience or different routes and may not reflect the actual situation. AmSnag data is factual, but be advised that fares may change from day to day - the day you do the AmSnag search.

Regards

Unlike most airfares, there is no "best" day with the lowest fare. This week, it may be Thursday, next week it may be Saturday and the next on Wednesday. It's all based on how the train bookings are.

The best days to avoid as many delays are Saturday and Sunday as the local freights aren't out. So slightly less train traffic. I also think there might be one of two less hotshot freights as well.

If your train is late into Central Florida (and misses its "slot," it could be further delayed by SunRail commuter rail, which currently runs only on weekdays. However, there is a rumor that they may be doing a test run on Saturdays from October to January.
