Seems that the Southwest Chief is losing two to four hours traveling through New Mexico beyond Lamy and the Colorado border. Does anyone know reasons for the delays. I planning on catching the SWC from Galesburg, IL, to Chicago in about a week thus my interest.

Regardless of the reason, things are likely to be different next week, or even tomorrow!

Only thing I've heard about #4 is a rock slide near Glorietta (siding) and slow orders.

I was on the SWC last week. We were slow order for two reasons. We had a lightning storm go through and signals were out 1.5 hours......that one should no be an issue now. The other was rough track......so bad I could call it violent. I got nothing offical about it but I ride the SWC on a regular basis and it had never been this bad. The region has had a number of big storms and I think the track is showing the affects. Track will be an issue for a while.
