The SWC that I got off yesterday at the more civilized hour of 7:10 am at Flagstaff has lost more time and is now almost five hours late. The first part of the delays were due to handling a private car as far as Williams Jct. it had three Amtrak locomotives. What happened?

Is this #4 (22)? By private car, do you mean the Amtrak Exhibit Train (and one of the three locos) that was set out at WMJ and is now at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon?

Since you mentioned it, the power was off for a few minutes, which would have been necessary if the controls were switched to another unit. I am still wondering why the train became so much later.

The exhibit train, while a factor, wasn't that significant overall. The Arival at WMJ was 6:08AM and departure was 6:33AM. 25 minutes to cut that off the rear and all that's involved is not bad relatively speaking. The rest was a snowball effect including other train interference, switch issues, marine traffic, and a late train getting later.

True, we were not at Williams that long considering what needed to be done. Now I understand why an Amtrak vehicle was present, wherever it came from. Thanks.
