I recently joined AU, after more than a year "stalking" this forum for information on Amtrak. About a year ago I had a major automobile accident and since that time, I can't really drive at fast speeds because it makes me dizzy.

I currently reside in Central Ohio, and my family lives in Ventral Illinois/Indiana. So I had to figure out ways to go home.

I always had an interest in trains but never took Amtrak before. I wan enchanted from the beginning.

I took the Cardinal out of Cincinnati to Chicago, to go south on the Illini.

After that I took in September a trip to Seattle on the Empire Builder and returned on the Zephyr

My accident took a lucky turn of course for my life! I appreciate the ability as a guest to ask questions that no one else knew the answer to. So I joined to give back!

Welcome Mike! We have several members in Ohio, perhaps y'all will meet up on the Cardinal, Lake Shore or Cap Ltd.

Also perhaps someday the good people of Ohio will elect Rail friendly politicians again instead of the just say No crowd currently in Columbus!

There is hope, Cincy went ahead with the Street Car project despite the Rail haters and head in the sand crowd, so some day we might see the CCC project return from the grave!

I haven't had a car (on purpose) for several years now, and although it meant changing routines a bit, I have found that taking the train and not having to worry about driving in bad weather or on crowded roads has brought my stress level down quite a bit.
